Elsa is a 2015 solid bay Thoroughbred mare that we purchased July of 2022. With a 5 year, 55 start, racing career and earning almost $200,000, she is a true Warhorse. She raced under the Jockey Club name of Shyla in Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. She retired from racing in January 2022. Elsa is broke W/T/C and English or Western, and is very patient under saddle and loves to learn new things including obstacle. She also has no problem toting the kids around on her back. Elsa is a very social horse with not an enemy in this world. She loves attention, loves playing in water, loves a good roll, and will do anything for a peppermint. One of her best buddies is our barn cat, Marshall, who is often sitting on her stall wall snuggling her neck. Elsa does well turned out with mares or geldings and is great with our goats. She would make a great 4H kid's horse with an advanced beginner or youth with a trainer. UTD on everything and has a current coggins.
Clover is a 2004 Standardbred that we bought from a kill pen (Southern Wisconsin Second Chance Lot). Since purchasing her sight unseen, we learned through her tattoo that she is from Pennsylvania and was a broodmare most her life under the registered name Real Delight. She produced 9 STBD foals that were successful Pacers. She was then bought by the Amish in Indiana, where she had at least one more foal. When she she came to us, she was still lactating. She foaled on 4/7/2024, having a Belgian cross chestnut filly, who we called Ember. She is a massive presence, and we've love having her here. Clover's favorite treats are butterscotch. Age and a lifetime of having babies is catching up with Clover and she is feeling it. She is pasture sound only and looking for retirement home. She gets along with other mares, but is at the top end of the pecking order. She doesn't go out of her way to bully, but just likes to keep to herself. She is turned out with mares and goats. UTD on everything.
Echo is a Blue Roan grade Paint Quarter Horse that we bought from a kill pen (Southern Wisconsin Second Chance Lot). Our vet aged her at 6. Unfortunately for us, she does appear to be pregnant, and so our plans for her to do 4H are a no-go. The vet will be out to confirm pregnancy. She would be a great project for someone. She is green broke, but has a great head on her shoulders and tries hard. Absolutely no offers to buck, rear, kick, bite, or bolt. Super social and kind of a velcro horse. Stands for farrier, fly spray, fly boots, mounting/dismounting, tacking up, etc. Loads and stands quietly tied. UTD on everything and has a current coggins.
